For $55, you get a 3.5 hour tour filled with mechanical reindeer, glowing nativity scenes, and 30-foot toy soldiers. The tour even stops at the Mona Lisa Pastry Shop and Cafe in Bay Ridge.

Celebrate Small Business Saturday!

27 Nov

It’s official. Black Friday is over and today is Small Business Saturday. I’m a big advocate for shopping local– and that means shopping small Brooklyn businesses for me. Luckily, there’s an easy resource to help us honor local businesses. Website “Shop Brooklyn” is an easy to use directory of Brooklyn shops. Just pick your category, search a business name, or browse the list to find what you’re looking for.

Shop Brooklyn is a part of a borough-wide awareness campaign, initiated by the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office, highlighting Brooklyn’s unique neighborhoods and thriving shopping corridors. It helps awaken Brooklyn pride, and helps small businesses thrive. Merchants can sign on free of charge and offer their special “Brooklyn Bonus” (a special deal or discount) throughout the course of the program. That means deals for us shoppers!

Start your holiday shopping today on Shop Brooklyn for Small Business Saturday. Not only will you help the local economy, but you’ll also find some unique gifts too!

Clean up with Brooklyn

24 Nov

The worst part about Thanksgiving dinner? The mess you’re left to clean up after all of your hard work has been gobbled down. Make your cleaning a little bit cuter with these Brooklyn-themed flour sack towels from “live from brooklyn” on Supermarket HQ. You can purchase a set of 6 for $75 or $15 each. They’re the perfect way to brighten up the load of dishes in your sink.

If you like Becoming Brooklyn…

23 Nov

Are you a Becoming Brooklyn fan? Are you into the environment? Sustainability? Then you’ll definitely like Brooklyn-based company Mother Nature & Partners‘ new blog too! MN&P is a Marketing/PR agency that focuses on the environment and corporate responsibility, and they work out of DUMBO, so you know they’re cool.

Check out the site and make sure to follow them on Twitter (@mnandp). I hear they have a pretty good blogger too! 😉
